How ATP tennis predict works, in plain terms.
What this is
ATP tennis predict uses a machine learning model to estimate each player's chance of winning an upcoming ATP or Challenger match. We compare that estimate against the odds offered by bookmakers to highlight matches where the model and the market disagree.
What the model looks at
• Each player's overall skill level, using a rating system similar to chess Elo that updates after every match.
• Skill level specifically on the surface the match is played on (clay, hard or grass).
• Recent form — how each player has performed in their last matches.
• The head-to-head record between the two players.
• Rest and fatigue — how recently and how often each player has been competing.
• Recent serving and return performance.
• The tournament's level and round.
How it's built
The model has been trained and tested on more than 400,000 historical ATP and Challenger matches, and is periodically retrained as new results come in, so it keeps adapting over time.
